February 2008

29 February 2008

You know it is a long day

When the kids eat lunch at the pool and then they say we should do this everyday,

Your parents tell you that you need a nap because "you look a bit worn",

The kids wake up from their nap almost two hours before you do,

When your Dad says when are you going to make plans for Disney and you have not even had a cup of coffee,

After all is said and done, you can't keep your eyes open no matter what happens so you run to the nearest bathroom and pray while the kids bang on the door and ask for ice cream.

OK, so that is my day in a nutshell.  I love them.  And they love me and thank heavens we are going to get back home in 48 hours.

until we meet again,

It's her birthday all month

Yes, it is probably not the best thing to start a 5 year old believing that her birthday lasts the whole month...  But Oh Well... It is too late now.

Every year, we come to Florida and we also make sure that we sing Happy Birthday to Chi-Chi every time we go out to eat dinner.

Ziggy almost broke Chi-Chi's cheek giving her kisses.  She loved it and so did we.  I have to say it has been a very good day.

But what cracks me up the most is the fact that she said to me "Mama, I think that I should be able to do my 6th birthday early."  Of course, I have to ask her "Why?"  She said "Because 5 is all used up now."

See what I mean, who can argue with that kind of kid logic.

I have ruined it for the rest of my life.

until we meet again,

A few good finds

Well yesterday was not a poolside day.  It was rainy and cold.

So we took the kids to Ft. Lauderdale so that they could paint some pottery.  We do it every year and it is now kinda a thing that they expect to do.  We had fun.

Well, I dropped the kids with my Dad and off I go running to Pearl Paint.  I just needed a few minutes to myself.

I got there and it was waiting for me right in the clearance section.  That is right, they were waiting for me.

Clear Glass Chess and Backgammon Boards and Pieces.  Yes, I know, A-R-T in the making.

I walked around the store for about an hour and finally, I said OK let me see how much.  OMG 7.00 bucks.  I ran out side and purchased all that they had left.

So now, I am going to sit up here and figure out what I am going to make.

It is one of those things that I am going to make and then wish that I would have purchased more.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a nicer day so that I can take the kids to the beach.

until we meet again,

We went to the beach!!!

Well, it is hot as Hades here!!!  It is 87 and we started the day at the pool.

Then of course, we had to go to the beach to pick up shells and take the boys to the beach for the very first time.

They had a blast.  Eji even had fun on the beach with the kids.  What a great chance for photos.

The kids are now going to take a nap and then we are off to go back to the beach.

Yoda on Art...

This is too funny.

A friend just sent me a Yoda Speak converter.

Yoda says...

"No mistakes in art just opportunities to embellish, there are.  Hmmmmmm."

OK, I know that it is not that funny, But it just made me pee my pants I laughed so hard.

until we meet again,

My Husband, My Blog, and My Photos

Now it is early in the morning. The first words that my husband says to me is...

"How come everyone else has seen the pictures but me.  You have them on the blog and I have not seen them.  Where are they?"

So I stop making my coffee and click and point my way to the photos.  As he is looking through them and laughing at himself and the kids, he says to me...

"Now this is the picture that should be on the blog."  SO without any further delays...   TA-DAH...   Here is the picture of the day.  The photo that my husband has decided should be on my blog.

Now if I can get him to dress the little buggers and go to the pool, oh that would be heaven.

I am off to have my morning coffee and get my day started.  I will be back...

Bloggin’ from I-95 South near Daytona Beach

OK, so we were up at the crack of dawn.

No let me say this.  I have been up for the past two days.  And sleeping in the car is just as bad as sleeping on an airplane.

My parents came to the house at 2.00am we were on the road by 3.00am.

Now, my plan was to just wake the kids up and put them in the car to go to bed right away.  Yeah what was I thinking?

4 movies later, we stop to have the all you can eat pancake breakfast at BB Ann's.

Now, Eji, has driven the whole way.  He does not like me to drive when we go away.  I really do think that is a man thing.  My Dad does not like my Mom to drive. But my Mom can't drive.

Yikes, I think I just had an EPIPHANY.  Do you think he thinks I can't drive?  I do believe in multi-tasking when I drive.

OK, but I digress.

So we have to make the 9th stop of the night to find out that my kids once out of the car need to run around.  We stop at the one Rest Area that has s sign that says "WATCH OUT FOR POISONOUS SNAKES".

The boys were in heaven running all over the place. Yes, even through the red ant hills.

So I got a great photo op with the kids. And to think that there are seven more days of all this family love.  YIKES.  I do not think that we can survive it.

We will be in West Palm Beach all week.  I am fired up.  I cannot wait to wear these kids out and then get to crafting.

until we meet again,

Better Late than Never...

Well, I have to admit that I am finally excited.  We are leaving for Florida in the next few hours.

I have been waiting to go for the past 8 days.  My parents have finally retired and they just have all the time in the world.

Now that they have no one to answer to for their time, they just come and go through life without a care in the world.

The kids are so ready to go to the BEACH that they are just splitting their pants.

I gave Chi-Chi my old camera so that she can take pictures.  She is so excited that she does not know what to do.

I have to admit that I am excited to see the world the way that she does.  So we are going to have a blast with her taking photos.

I am still doing laundry and I am still packing up what I am going to craft late at night. Be gone for a whole week and not craft.  NOT!!!

I am really excited about the three projects that I am working.  I am of course only bringing two.

One is inspired by a Valonda Leichty.  I cannot wait to get to it.  I hope that what is in my head comes out as great as what she did.  I will let you know.

Well, I am going to be connected to the net the whole week.  I will let you know which one of my family members does not make the short bus back home.

until we meet again.

22 February 2008

I was a semi-fianlist!!!!

Yes, y'all, I made the short list.  I did not even know it.  I got an email from Valonda.

I made the short list for Creative Escape 2008!!

That is great.  I am so fired up.  I have to say that I was not expecting to even make the short list.  I am so glad that I sent in my stuff.  I am even more excited that it turned out the way that it did.

Jessica Guthrie from Mission Viejo, California - who is sponsored by Karen Bremer owner of the Red Bee in Tustin, California!

We are so excited to share our talented treasure with all of you during Creative Escape. She really teaches a great class and is a wonderful designer! She is going to be a great addition to the Creative Escape teaching team.

It was a very tough decision when there was such a wonderful selection of teachers to choose from. The semi-finalists included:

Darcy Christiansen

Lauren Ferguson-Nwachukwu

Jann Gray

If you are lucky enough to be in Michigan, Kentucky, or Arizona … these ladies teach a great class!

================================

I have to say that I am excited.  I am very very excited.  Not for any other reason but that I had a great group of friends who helped me do this and who believed in me.

It may be raining in Atlanta and but I the sun is shining in my heart. As hokey as that sounds, I mean it, I really mean it!!
