OK, so maybe it is the old Un-Du, but it is new to me.
If you do not know it they have stopped making Un-Du. Apparently the tree huggers of the world, and this includes all of the floaters in California, have decided that it is not good for the environment.
So here is what I found out:
un-du®products recalled in California.
Manufacturing suspended. Aspen Shops Online received notification Friday morning, August 3, 2007 that shipments of un-du products from the manufacturer have been suspended until further notice. This is as a result of a notice from the California Air Resources Board that the products sold under the brand name un-du® may not be in compliance with their new Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) regulations.
Boy was I upset. I ran out and purchased as many bottles as I could find. I must have had about 15 bottles. Who ever thinks that if you have 15 of anything that you would run out.
Well guess what, I ran out!!!
Oh my, oh my. I need my un-du. I un-du my nerves when they are stuck together. Un-du is my best friend, next to my Big Bite, Perfect Layers and craft knife. I love this stuff.
Well, today while I was walking through the Hobby Lobby, I remembered that I needed some un-du. I remembered reading something on 2P's about using something that would work just as well.
Once again, my good friend Cat from Chicago does a search on the board for me and finds that I just need to purchase rubber cement solvent/thinner.
Come on y'all remember how Dad would have it in the basement the can with the red line around it. My Dad would use it to take all kinds of things off his hands and as a matter of fact, that was even better than turpentine.
I poured it into a paper cup and put it in my un-du bottle and I am now good to go. Gosh, it is such a wonderful feeling to know that those tree huggers will not stop me from changing my creative mind again and again and again.
Crisis averted and off to make art.
until we meet again,

Lauren,
It's nice to know that our posting helped explain the disapearance of un-du. We were very sorry to see it go as it was one of our best sellers.
We also posted information a couple of weeks ago on the Bestine product. One of our customers put us onto it. We hope to have it in stock very soon. We will be posting any updates on Bestine or other similar un-du substitutes as info becomes available at http:www.un-du.net (yes, we own the un-du.net domain, but we are not the manufacturer. The manufacturer has closed the un-du.com site) We hope to keep people informed there and of course drive some business to our retail website at AspenShopsOnline.com (trying to give full disclosure here and be honest about it).

Thanks so much for posting this! I was one of the unfortunate ones that didn't hear about the un-do situation. Consequently, I'm down to my last half-bottle. I used to gladly share with other scrappers that had gotten themselves into a fix. Not any more! I'm a total miser with it now. I'm glad to see that there's an answer. :)

I completely understand. I actually got a friend of mine to give me her last 1/3 of a bottle that she had at the crop.
DON'T THROW OUT THE BOTTLE.
You will need something to put the Bestine in.
It only takes about two of the little kid bathroom paper cups to fill it to the top.
Glad that I could help.
love ya like cooked food,

Remember that paper cups usually are wax coated and un-du was also marketed as a wax remover product. Besides possibly ending up with a leaky cup and Bestine all over the place, I suggest stick with plastic cups and a small funnel. BTW, if you have some the older 4oz empty bottles hang on to them with your dear life. The spouts are much better than those produced by un-du after about July of 2007.

Lauren, thank you for the nice reply to my post about Bestine being a good substitute for un-du. I have good news! UN-DU IS BACK! The 4 ounce bottle with the sticker lifter/scraper is back!
Rather than bore you with the details (you can check www.un-du.net for those) let me just say quickly that the son of the inventor of un-du bought back the brand and plans to deal with the ban in California and redesign the dispensing spout closer to the original design. Meanwhile, he acquired all the inventory from the previous owner of the brand and we have it back in our online store at www.AspenShopsOnline.com .
FYI un-du Scrapper's Solution and un-du Adhesive Remover are the same product marketed under different labels. Once existing inventories of Scrapper's Solution are sold it will be discontinued, so hang onto an old bottle for old-times sake. Who knows, it may someday become a collector's item!
Our online store specializes in hard to find useful items and is not specifically a scrapper's supply, but we have a lot scrapper customers for un-du. They are really a nice group of people, and often write back thanking us just for carrying un-du. I told my wife last night that she should to consider getting into scrapping. She loves to work with family photo albums and we both enjoy making ceramics at a local store. It seems to me scrapping would be a natural for her. So, I planted the seed and will sit back and see if it takes hold. I think it is a hobby she would really enjoy and the comradery among scrappers like yourself seems genuine.
Best regards! Ron

I can hardly wait for undu to come back to Calif. I reall need it because I do scrapbooks for people and right now I have a person with 6 of the old magnetic books that need to have the pics. removed. I have found a difference between the scrapper solution and the adhesive remover. The adhesive remover will make inks run as the scrapper solution did not. I don't know what the differance is but their is something. I have thought about going to Reno, Nv so I could get some. Getting desperate here. Thanks for you info.
